These instructions cover how to setup email using Microsoft “Outlook Express” as an email program.
Note that each user has a username which is their email name plus their email domain.

1) Start Outlook Express by double clicking on the Outlook Express Icon:
If a window called the “Internet Connection Wizard” pops up, continue with the following steps at step 1.
If you’re not presented with the “Internet Connection Wizard” please skip ahead to step 1a in the
section marked “Adding an account from
the main Outlook Express Menu” later in this document.
In the “Internet Connection Wizard”:
1. Type in your
name in the box labeled “Display Name”
2. click “Next>”
3. Type in your email address in the box labeled “E-mail address”
4. click “Next>”
5. The next page is titled “E-mail Server Names”
In the box labeled “Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server” type
pop.yourDomain.com
(where yourDomain.com is your actual email domain)
6. In the box labeled “Outgoing mail server” type
mail.yourDomain.com
(where yourDomain.com is your actual email domain)
7. The box labeled “My Incoming Mail Server is a |POP3| server” should be left
alone (e.g. POP3 should remain selected)
8. Click “Next>”
9. On the new screen titled “Internet Mail Logon”
in the box labeled
“Account name:” type
(e.g. I’d type mhe@hamiltonts.com)
10. In the box labeled “Password” type your password
Note: your password should have been
supplied to you
11. The “check box” next to “Remember password” should be checked, and the one
next to “Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)” should be
un-checked
12. Click “Next>”
13. On the screen titled “Congratulations” click “Finish”
You’re almost done, just a few more steps!
14. Click on the menu option “tools”, then select the item “accounts…”
15. Click on the tab marked “Mail”, then the button marked “Properties”
16. Click on the tab market “Servers”, then click the checkbox near the bottom
marked:
My server requires authentication
17. Click on OK which will close the Properties menu
18. Click on Close, which will close the Accounts menu
19. You’re done!
Adding an account from the main Outlook Express Menu
If the “Internet Connection Wizard” didn’t start when you started Outlook Express follow these steps to start it, then go back to the top of the document and follow along with the instructions.
1a. Click on the menu option “tools”, then select the item “accounts…”
2a. Click on the tab marked “Mail”, then the button marked “Add>”, then select the
item marked “Mail…”
3a. This should start the “Internet Connection Wizard” and you can proceed from step 1 at the top of this document.
